Queen’s Diary - Septentrian 12th Night
Dear Diary,
This past weekend was the 12th for the Barony of Septentria and it was a lot of fun. Like Wassail set the tone for the upcoming holidays, this event made it seem like the holidays weren’t over yet. It was great to see all of my friends again, hearing how their Christmas’ were and how they spent the New Years.
There was a lot of laughter in the hall, as if everyone came in a mood to have fun and be silly. Even when the moments should have been more serious (like when we elevated Piero to the Crucible), there was a lot of hilarity involved. I love hearing everyone laugh and see the smiles on everyone’s faces.
I got to choose the first round of Live Twister and watch the shoving match between Quill and Seamus. It was awesome that Nicolaa won (one for the women!). I think all the kids on the side were itching to get on the board to show the adults how it was done. It was very cute. Everyone was a great sport that day with all the games and goofing around – from sock puppets, to card games, to the play put on by the autocrat, everyone seemed to being having a really good day. I bet the bar made a tidy sum too.
For me, I loved wandering the hall speaking to everyone, playing around a bit with my friends, and generally enjoying the day with the folks of Septentria. Perceival and Christiana have made a good home in Septentria, warm, inviting and welcoming. It was topped off by a magnificent feast put on by Domhnail and Corwyn. People were clapping when the removes were brought out! I ate way too much and only wanted to eat more as I saw what kept coming out. The swan was amazing but it was even better when I overheard a little one say “It’s the goose that ate the moose” (said when they saw the roast pieces being brought out from under it).
It was a great way to start 2011.
One thing I was remiss about was to announce during feast that the winner of the 50-50 draw (whose names eludes me, my apologies) donated his winnings back to the Kingdom after buying himself a drink. That is what sets Ealdormere apart from any other Kingdom in the Knowne World. Wassail to you, good gentle!
