Queen’s Diary – Queen's Diary: Wassail

Dear Diary,

It’s been a while but you know what the holidays are like! I can’t believe it’s mid way through January already. Wassail seems like a long time ago but when I think back on the day, the memories come back like they just happened.

Wassail is one of the smaller events we go to and I love it. Baronial events like this one have such a different feel to it and it was just what I needed after a very hectic start to the winter. It was hosted by our very dear friends, Kol and Wencenedl and we had a great time. There was a little bit of fighting and fencing but more of just laughing and enjoying the company of friends. The whole day had a nice relaxed feel to it that allowed me to just sit back and observe and have a great time with my friends of Ealdormere.

A bunch of us hung out around the thrones which was up on a raised stage and laughed most of the time over silly jokes and antics. The Princess introduced her ‘Bag of Whims’ and it was hilarious watching the populace carry out what they pulled out of the bag. We even got to make up some of our own to add to what she brought with her.

It was just great though to just to be able to sit back and watch the people of this Kingdom revel in the simple pleasures of the day. Sometimes I think in this fast paced world with all its technology gadgets, we forget how to do that.

It was another event where the Kingdom treated me well, made me laugh and made me feel welcome. It was a mellow day, allowing some of the stresses of the previous weeks to seep away and set the mood for the upcoming holidays.

My sincerest thanks to the Barony, the Kingdom and the populace for the gifts they continue to give back to the Crown. I would not want to be Queen anywhere’s else.
